Yolanda Johnson is a Program Director with Street Law, Inc. – a global nonprofit organization in Silver Spring, Maryland that creates classroom and community programs to teach people about law, democracy, and human rights. Yolanda currently leads Street Law’s Legal Life Skills for Youth Program that brings civic education to vulnerable youth populations across the country. She trains corporate and community volunteers to teach Street Law’s civic education programs, and oversees the new Street Law for Police & Teens program.
Yolanda’s Innovation In Motion Workshop: Street Law’s Legal Life Skills: Civic Education for Girls, will discuss how Street Law advances justice by creating classroom and community programs to empower people with the legal and civic knowledge needed to bring about positive change. The presenters will discuss how Street Law’s Legal Life Skills Program provides an opportunity for girls to: understand how the law affects their daily lives, effectively engage in civic life, and use the law as a tool to advocate for themselves and their peers.
