National Crittenton is seeking submissions for original art to be featured on the official t-shirts for the 2019 event, In Solidarity We Rise: Healing, Opportunity, and Justice for Girls.

Art has always been a powerful tool in shaping the way we see and understand the world. We are looking for designs that reflect the event’s themes of healing, opportunity, and justice for girls – interpreted in any way that speaks to you.

The winning artist submission will receive a $500 honorarium, plus travel, lodging, and two complimentary registrations for In Solidarity We Rise, May 9-11 2019 in Atlanta, GA.

Last year, 16-year-old Ebony Morris designed the artwork for the official In Solidarity We Rise 2017 t-shirt, pictured below:

How to Enter

  1. Take a high-resolution photo or scan of your artwork, or (for digital artwork) save as a high-resolution .png, .jpg, or .pdf and be sure to retain a copy in vector format
  2. Send your artwork to us as an attachment via email to, or post the photo, scan, or digital file of your artwork on social media and tag us (handles listed below)
  3. Include a short caption or description of how your artwork reflects the theme(s) of healing, opportunity, and justice for girls in your post or email
  4. Submit your work no later than January 18th at 11:59 PM PST; winner will be announced on February 1st

The fine print
  • Open to all girls, cis and trans, and gender nonconforming young people age 25 and under
  • Designs should be completely original, transferable to a t-shirt via direct-to-garment print, and must satisfy the following requirements:
    • If hand-drawn, a high resolution scan (greater than 300 dpi) at 11 inches wide of the artwork will be needed
    • If the design is digitally created, we will require the native photoshop files in vector format so we can remove the background for sizing and printing
    • Winning submissions will require artist’s bio and headshot for recognition in conference program and event app
      Bios should be no longer than 100 words and include the artist’s age and preferred pronouns (not to be included in word count)
      Headshots should be 200 x 200 px, high-resolution images
  • Winning submissions will be used as-is for t-shirt design with the event name, hashtag, and organization name on the back of the shirt. Post-event, it is possible that the design will be reused and/or repurposed to suit other promotional needs (i.e. in social media graphics, emails, posters, etc.
