Brother
Crittenton Location: , District of Columbia ()
1962
I am looking for my half brother. He was born in 1962 to a 'Midge' (that is what my Dad remembered) and Gabriel Oates Ireton. Our father has passed away, but about 9 months before he died he told me about him. He said all he could remember was that his father's people in Washington DC handled the adoption as he was active in the Navy in the Panama, and 'Midge' and he met in Panama. Her father he believed was a civilian contractor. Midge's family sent her back to the states. My father says that he remembers being notified of his son's birth at about the same time that he announced on air that Marilyn Monroe had died.

birth family
Crittenton Location: Helena, Montana (Lewis and Clark)
April 16, 1924
I am trying to locate any birth family for my mother. My mother was born April 24, 1924 and given up for adoption through the Florence Crittenton Home in Helena, Montana. My mother's baptismal records from the Cathedral of St. Helena show her birth name as Elizabeth Mae Collins; her birth mother's name as Jane Collins. The birth certificate issued prior to the adoption shows the birth mother as Jane Katherine Collins (age 17) of Belt, Montana and the birth father as William Murphy (age 23) (residence unknown), occupation farmer. Jane Katherine Collins place of birth listed on the birth certificate is Bisbee, North Dakota. We have no other records regarding my mother's birth parents. My mother was adopted by Arthur and Frances Opp of Helena, Montana.
My mother has passed away and we are trying to locate any family.
Half Sister
Crittenton Location: Bermuda Dunes, California ()
1974
I am the daughter of a mother who gave birth to a Crittenton baby on 08-03-1974 in Youngstown, Oh at St Elizabeth. Our mom was only 13 when my sister was born. She got impregnanted at 12. I found out about my sister when I was 13. When I was old enough I started searching. I am now 42 and I have been searching for her for over 20 years. She is my older sister. My mom named her Tamika Marie and to the best of our knowledge she was adopted by a black family in Andover whose father was a Dr. We believe her name on her birth certificate is Tamika Marie Crittenton. I have done ancestry DNA in the hopes of finding her and have called Crittenton, different homes, etc. looking for her records and was told that the home burned down and the place where the records were stored had a flood and all the documents were ruined. So I have turned to various other methods to find her. Her adoption was not necessarily by choice. I mean 13 year olds who are shipped away from home at 12 and give birth at 13 can often be bullied into making decisions by parents and authorities to doing things they don't want to do. So I will continue my search but if anyone, anywhere knows anything about my sister please reach out! Thank you in advance!

Son
Crittenton Location: Denver, Colorado ()

I delivered a baby boy on 12-16-72 and felt my only alternative was to relinquish. This did not happen until sometime in January of 1972 because when I was taken to court I could not follow through with it. I was given 3 weeks to decide while my son remained in foster care. After trying to figure out how I could do this, I finally agreed to go back to court and relinquish. I gave birth on site at Florence Crittenton in Denver.

I was born in March 1959. I know that the birth mother was unwed, 20 years old, and not able to care for a baby. Not sure if the birth father knew of my birth. At the age of 23,called Beth. Was interviewed in the fall of 1964 was placed with a family as a mother‘s helper in Newton.. she had three children. social worker was from Boston children services. . January 1965 return to Crittendon. I think it was Brighton , MA. Did have chores to do also we had group therapy sessions. Delivered February 14, 1965. Peter Bent Brigham hospital, Boston. Baby was placed in foster care for three months .I was concerned there might have been brain damage because he was born with the umbilical cord wrapped around his neck. He was fine .I relinquished him in May 1965. If he had been brain-damaged I was determined to keep him as my child. .
In 1986 when he turned 21 I began searching joined CUB,, The Adoption Connection. Visited the adoption agency and gave them non-identifying information about myself.. Reunited in 1996. We have a close bond. I am part of his extended family. He has two children I am very grateful that he was placed with a very loving family. I spent many years keeping this a secret and continuing with therapy throughout my adult life. I would like to contact some of the women that were at Crittendon when I was there-unfortunately I don’t remember names . Any guidance you might have would be appreciated.
What services you are now providing for unwed mother’s.?
