Through a one year fellowship provide by Atlantic Philanthropies, Maryann Jacob Macias is joining the National Crittenton team as Senior Director. “I am thrilled to be part of this dynamic team doing vital work on behalf of women, girls, and gender nonconforming youth,” Maryann said.
Maryann received her BA in English from the City College of New York (CUNY), her MFA in Creative Writing from Pine Manor College, and a Certificate of Professional Achievement in Human Rights from Columbia University. Her entire career has been in the nonprofit sector with organizations dedicated to social justice, beginning with the National Book Foundation where, from 1999 to 2005, she organized public programs and authors’ school visits. She then held senior-level development positions at the Poetry Society of America, and the Feminist Press at CUNY. Maryann spent the last five years at The Atlantic Philanthropies, a global limited life foundation that has made $8 billion in grants since 1982 to advance opportunity and promote equity and dignity among vulnerable communities around the world. She is the mom of two humans and a furbaby and lives in Queens, the world’s borough.
