Young women from the Florence Crittenton Services in Charlotte, NC recently harvested their onsite garden.
They feel so empowered that they are able to practice the “farm-to-fork” concept. It’s exciting to know that these vegetables will be prepared in the organization’s kitchen for residence to eat.
In 2012, Florence Crittenton Services in Charlotte, NC received a sub-grant via the Walmart Foundation to provide nutrition services for its residence, a service they were not able to fully provide before. Since the grant, Florence Crittenton Services has been able to expand basic nutrition knowledge for both clients and staff, and sustain their onsite vegetable garden to actively participate in the farm-to-fork movement.
